Ezra Academy offers a huge variety of Extra Curricular activities for our students. Many of these options are in the fields of Law and Finance, strengthening students knowledge, speaking, and team building skills (and look very good on college applications!)

Mock Trial
This team takes one case and works on it for approximately 3 months. Team meetings will begin immediately after Succot (if not before). 6 Team members are assigned the job of lawyer, 6 Team members are assigned the jobs of witnesses. We play in the Courthouse in an actual courtroom with an attorney serving as our judge. Mock Trial meets once a week religiously until we get close to competition and then we meet twice a week and Sundays. If we move on past preliminary rounds we meet as often as we have time for to make sure.

Moot Court
This team meets once a week and competes twice a year. Each competition is a tournament where teams simulate the parts of lawyer, witness, and researcher. Each team plays 3 cases on the same day. No team sees the cases before the day of the tournament. Closer to competition (Usually March) this team will have Sunday meetings as well.

Debate
This team has the opportunity to participate in the most competitions of the year. Each tournament is a separate event with a new topic to argue about. Competitions take place as pairs of one school compete against pairs from other schools. Ample time is given for preparation. Practices are planned in conjunction with tournaments.

Fed Challenge
Considered one the most challenging teams in school, this team is about economics. The team works hard examining economic indicators and then advises the Federal Reserve Board on how to make policy. The team meets at the Federal Reserve Bank and does a tour of the gold stored there. The team prepares their presentation in advance but must answer questions on the spot at the competition. Warning: if you are extremely intelligent you may be drafted to this team. This team competes only once a year (April) unless the team makes the semi- finals.

Euro Challenge
Considered the other more challenging team in school, this team examines the European Economic Community and the specific challenges of a country in the European Community. The team prepares their presentation in advance but must answer questions on the spot at the competition. Warning: if you are extremely intelligent you may be drafted to this team as well. This team competes only once a year (April) unless the team makes the semi- finals.

Extemporaneous Speaking
Often seen as an extension of the debate team, this team asks members to speak about a random topic that is given to them 15 minutes before speaking at a competition. Practices are minimal and competitions are always held at debate tournaments.

Model UN
This team meets at a three day event in February. The team is assigned a country to represent and attends the event as delegates from that country on committees of the United Nations. The goal is have your position papers and motions passed and to find solutions to worldwide challenges. Practices will depend on the motivation of the team.
H & R Budget Challenge
The Sponsor is inviting eligible students to compete in a virtual Budget Challenge against eligible students in their classroom and eligible students in schools throughout the country. Each eligible student will be presented with a virtual salary and will be tasked with building a budget, paying recurring bills and making decisions regarding real-world expenses such as rent, utilities, car payments and insurance. Throughout the Budget Challenge, students will be thrown spontaneous real-life occurrences such as, but not limited to, a virtual car accident, lost cell phone or pay raise, and will be required to adjust their budget accordingly to deal with such unexpected situations.
The Apprentice Challenge
Test your skills and work collaboratively in teams to develop a marketing plan based on a sample case assignment that will be presented to an esteemed panel of judges. The team that creates the most successful marketing plan will be awarded the coveted title of the Apprentice.
